Everyone go listen to “Helen Forsdale” because it’s seriously on my short list of favorite songs ever. I love the way it sustains the feeling that it’s going to fall apart without ever actually falling apart. The guitar sound is also really cool. And the drumming is spectacular in the way it is more of a riff than a drum pattern, if that makes sense. And the screaming is nuts. And the bass seems like it’s going to be normal but then it goes off in a million directions.

You can find the Holy Bible filed in BS. I like to imagine that’s some 19th century humanist librarian’s idea of a joke, but I don’t even know if they used the phrase “bull shit” the way we do today. Still, if you’re looking for the Bible in a LC library, you’re looking for BS.

List of things that have crapped out on me

Since moving back to CT on New Year’s Eve.

My laptop: An iBook that lasted me nearly four years without AppleCare. I had it on one side of my bedroom and it worked. Then I moved it to the other side for interior decorating reasons and it won’t start up.
My main amp: A Fender Blues Something-or-other. The electronics in the amp part are all loose and screwy so it keeps either making awful sounds or not making sounds at all.
My other amp: An ancient Peavey Deuce. I love the sound but I can’t get it to stop sucking. The cable connecting amp to speaker was broken, so I fixed it. Then the fuse holder broke and the fuse disappeared, so I got a new fuse but it might not be the right one. Now it makes funny noises.
My car’s CD player: A few weeks after getting the stupid car (I hate driving), it started making weird distortion noises when I played CDs. Then it stopped reading burned CDs sometimes. Then it didn’t care what kind, just what mood it was in. Then, right in the middle of disc two of Da Drought 3it went KGKKGKGKGGKKKKGGGKGGMHMHGHMGKFNM and decided to never play CDs again.
My belt: Boy Scout belt I’ve used for like 10 years. Stopped reliably holding my pants up.
