RE: accessibility and this one being better received than the other ones:
1) Avey Tare Brings the Big Chorus. - In the past their songs had mostly been linear, going from point A to point B, building and expanding along the way. This time almost all the songs have yer classic AABA type cyclical song structure. It gives the listener something to hold on to. I think Joe and Jane iPod connect to that more readily.
2) The BEATZ, man!! - While PCA2 and I are familiar with AC dance parties from way back, this time around they really brought their A game in the bassinyourface department. People like bassinyourface. And dance parties.
Animal Collective- Summertime Clothes
I feel like I’m in a bit of a catch-22 about the new Animal Collective album. I really like it and want to tell people they should totally check it out, but I don’t want to sound like some trendy asshole just jumping on the hype bandwagon. I’ve been a big fan of AC for a while now,* but I certainly don’t want to sound like an EVEN bigger asshole by telling folks “I liked them before they were cool. So I know what I’m talking about.”
Basically, I feel like at the moment there’s no way to talk about Animal Collective and not sound like an asshole.
*Although I absolutely love the new album, I really don’t think it’s that much better then all of their other really great albums, and it’s certainly much less accessible, so I’m a bit confused as to why it’s this album that is attracting all sorts of new fans, but whatever

Point taken. I just feel like MPP has so many more “weird noises” then say, Strawberry Jam, which I thought was much...
